Rota in Cádiz province is the latest municipality to suffer a high-season strike by workers of the rubbish collection service, the industrial action beginning at 23:59 on Sunday night and scheduled to be ‘indefinite’.
Employees of the municipal cleaning concessionaire, FCC, are unhappy about proposed wage cuts, increased working hours and the fact that they have not received their July wages.
The unions say the company is not appreciative of their significant offer of a wage freeze instead of a salary reduction.
The situation could change if some sort of agreement is reached, a situation not being ruled out by either side in the dispute. Meanwhile, minimum service levels are in operation.
