Started in 2006 and costing €7.5 million, the 400 seat Municipal Theatre in Torrox is still not open, the latest delay relating to security in case of emergency.
A report by the Málaga Fire Brigade lists a number of deficiencies relating to accessibility in case of an emergency and these have to be remedied before the facility can officially open.
According to the Mayor, Francisco Muñoz (PSOE), he has ‘urged’ the construction company to rectify these ‘minor’ issues, relating to steps, stairs and doors.
Having already specified several projected opening dates, the Mayor will no longer speculate on when the theatre will open to the public.
