A trip to the barbers tends to be more of a social occasion in many cases – it has to be. More than one person waiting in line and you’re better off taking a camp bed. On one occasion it took me one and a quarter hours from start to finish, and there was no-one in the chair when I arrived and no-one waiting – or so I thought.
I only popped in ‘cos the place was deserted…On Friday, I was amazed to see three people queuing at 09:15 one of the barber’s shops – and they could have been there a lot longer, of course. The place opens at 10:00!! At the earliest.
Obviously more ‘social’ on that occasion as they could hardly muster four hairs between them.
There are also occasions when you’re optimism and hopes are dashed. One person in the chair being groomed, just one sitting waiting. Worth it, you think, maybe you’ll be out in less than 45 minutes.
Then, as the man being groomed leaves the hot seat, in troll the eight kids belonging to the man sitting waiting. Well, slight exaggeration, it was three kids. There’s another hour and a bit added to your sentence….
