A 23 year old man has been arrested in Sevilla and charged with failing to render aid after causing an accident which left five people injured and then fleeing the scene. It is not his first such offence.
The accident occurred in July on the A-49. In 2007, he was arrested after fleeing the scene of another accident which left one person dead.
The detainee, 23 year old J.O.N., surrendered to the Guardia Civil after finding out he was on the ‘wanted’ list, saying that he left the scene due to bullying the occupants of the other vehicle involved in the accident, all of whom were aged between 57 years and 80 years.
After he fled the scene, the detainee’s wife reported the car as stolen in order to throw the authorities off the scent and she has also been arrested for making a false statement.
Police examined the vehicle and found significant amounts of blood and hair belonging to the detainee, the results of impact with the windscreen during the accident.
