Around three hundred people had to be evacuated from their homes in Palacios de Becedas, Ávila province, on Sunday morning as flames from a forest fire rapidly approached.
The fire began near the town of Solana, close to the provincial border with Cáceres, in an area of the Sierra de Gredos Regional park. Eight helicopters and two water bombers from various provinces have been assisting ground forces in controlling the blaze.
The authorities believe the fire was started intentionally.
