An independent report commissioned by Ruth Ortiz, mother of missing children Ruth and José, has confirmed that skeletal remains found at finca Las Quemadillas in Córdoba during the early stages of the search are in fact those of the two youngsters and not, as was initially thought, the bones of small animals.
Ruth and José went missing in October 2011 while in the care of their father, José Breton, and numerous searches for the two children have been carried out during the intervening eleven months, many of those searches in and around finca Quemadillas, a property owned by the Breton family.
José Breton was arrested during the early days of the investigation and remains in custody.
It appears that skeletal remains were found on a bonfire at the finca during the early days of the investigation and the indications are that these remains, which had been subjected to temperatures of up to 800 degrees, were erroneously analysed as belonging to small animals or rodents.
It is also reported, although not officially confirmed, that police found DNA of the two children at the same site as the bonfire.
