No more oversights, lost cards, technical problems or other reasons for municipal employees not correctly clocking in and out of work, the Council has introduced a new fingerprint registration system to counter absenteeism and skullduggery.
The introduction of the system coincides with the increase in the working week from 35 hours to 37.5 hours.
The system is not new to Nerja, it has been working successfully in the School of Music for the past four years and in the Municipal Library for three years.
The existing card system was installed in the social services building but the software had become outdated and was in need of replacement. The new system should be cheaper and more efficient to operate.
Oversights, loss of cards etc resulted in lengthy administrative procedures for the employee to justify his presence at work. Lost cards also cost €5 to replace. Using fingerprints, these situations should not occur.
Marbella has been using a similar system with its 3,000 employees and Rincón de la Victoria is set to introduce fingerprint registration shortly.
