Police have arrested a British national who had been kidnapped, beaten and kept in an apartment in Manilva for five days.
A drugs investigation led to the discovery that a gang had carried out a kidnapping in Puerto Banus, near Marbella, although there had been no report of any missing persons. Police found out that the man had been kidnapped violently and had been taken to an undisclosed location.
Further investigation led to the discovery of a location in Manilva where the victim could possibly be being held and a raid was organised.
Entering the apartment, police found the victim taped and bound on a bed. He showed signs of having been repeatedly beaten with a blunt instrument.
Police arrested three kidnappers, two UK citizens and one Irish, who had apparently carried out the kidnapping in order to collect a drug trafficking debt from the victim.
The victim himself, after being released from his ordeal, was then arrested on suspicion of money laundering. The victim is also allegedly wanted by the UK authorities.
