RENFE workers have called another strike for tomorrow, Monday, in protest at plans by the rail network operator to split the organisation into four separate companies. Already cancelled are 302 AVE, long and middle distance trains and local trains. Local trains, Cercanias, are expected to run at around 50% of normal.
The last RENFE strike, a similar protest, was in August and was timed to coincide with the start of the main holiday season in Spain.
The Unions have already complained about what they consider ‘abusive’ minimum service levels set by the Ministry of Development, these being 75% for AVE, long and middle distance trains, 50% for Cercanias, 75% for the rush hour in Madrid and 65% for regional services.
