It was good while it lasted but Barcelona are back on top of La Liga after a 1-4 win at Getafe, although Málaga remain in second place after Saturday’s matches.
Messi and Villa started on the bench for Barcelona so it was up to Adriano to get things going, which he did in the 32nd minute.
Messi came on as a substitute and scored from the penalty spot midway through the second half and then added another four minutes later. Sarabia pulled one back for Getafe but Villa restored Barcelona’s lead in the 91st minute.
That’s four out of four for the Catalans and they are already eight points clear of arch rivals Real Madrid who lost 1-0 at Sevilla, Trochowski scoring in the second minute of the game. Sevilla move up to third in La Liga pending Sunday’s games.
