Nerja Council has approved a motion requesting the Junta de Andalucia to honour its agreements and pay the outstanding debt it owes to the Taller de Amistad, a local organisation working with the mentally disabled.
The Junta de Andalucia has not paid the agreed grants since 2009, and now apparently owes €161,866.33.
There is every possibility that the organisation, which provides help and employment opportunities for the mentally disabled, may have to close its doors.
It would be interesting to know whether all these municipalities, organisations and associations who are currently bombarding the Junta de Andalucia with requests to pay their, often long-standing debts relate purely to entities of a different political persuasion or whether it is across the board.
Not that any of the municipal councils pay their debts either, regardless of political persuasion.
