A total of 878,891 students in Andalucia – Secondary, Adult Education, Bachillerato and others – start back at schools and colleges today after the summer break. Although the number of students remains the same, the number of teachers does not.
There are 4,502 fewer teachers this year, the Junta de Andalucia recruiting less staff due, they say, to the increase in working/classroom hours imposed by the Central Government.
Despite the staff reductions, schools and colleges are offering the same range of courses as in previous years.
