The Civil Protection unit in Nerja, in collaboration with the Deparment of Environment and the Cleaning Services have planned a second ‘clean-up’ day along the rio Chillar to Los Cahorros which will take place on September 30th.
Last year’s effort collected around 800 kilos of rubbish dropped or left behind by thoughtless or careless visitors to the area.
Anyone interested in participating in this effort should register at the office of Municipal Council of Sport, the headquarters of Civil Protection, the Municipal Office of Citizen Services, the Youth Information Centre or at theNerja Cultural Centre.
Those participating in this activity may choose between two routes. One will be more difficult due to the distance traveled and the difficult terrain, so participants should be physically fit. The transfer from the staging area to the Collado del Apretadero will be in vehicles belonging to the Civil Protection.
The second route is considered medium difficulty and those participating in this one can turn around whenever they wish and return to the starting point. Departure will be from the new calle Mirto parking area. This second route is also suitable for children.
The head of Civil Protection, Manuel Valderrama, has suggested that participants wear comfortable and durable shoes as they will get wet during the trip. It is also recommended to carry some sort of headgear, water and some food. The organisers will provide rubbish bags, gloves and a shirt.
The date is Sunday September 30th, the meeting place is the calle Mirto parking area and the time is 08:30.
