There were two very similar bank robberies within three hours in Marbella on Wednesday morning, netting the thieves at least €86,000 in total.
The first raid took place at 08:00 at a branch in Calle de los Jazmines in Nueva Andalucía. As the bank was being opened, a man with a pistol threatened the bank employee and gained entry.
The robber had to wait until the safe was opened as it was on a timer mechanism. Once he had his loot, estimated at around €80,000, he joined his accomplice who had been waiting at the entrance to the bank and they fled on a motorcycle.
Neither robber made any attempt to hide their faces.
The second raid took place a couple of hours later in the same area with the scenario being very similar. One man entered the bank and, using a pistol to intimidate the staff, demanded money. The haul on this occasion is thought to be in the region of €6,500.
Once again a second man was waiting at the door and neither made any attempt to hide their faces. The getaway vehicle on this occasion was a car.
The similarities between the two robberies are clear. However, witnesses say that the man who entered the bank was not the same person on both occasions.
