The Munich Oktoberfest, the world’s largest beer festival, opened on Saturday as the first keg was tapped to herald the start of a 16-day extravaganza of lederhosen, oompah music and beer. Over six million revellers from around the world are expected to attend this year’s festival and drink seven million litres of beer in the 35 giant beer tents covering an area of over 26 hectares.
