The death toll as a result of the torrential rains and flooding throughout southern Spain has risen to ten, five in Andalucia and five in the region of Murcia.
The latest victims are a man from the village of Sangonera La Verde in Murcia and a woman from Archidona in Málaga province. Two people are still reported as missing. Hundreds of people are still unable to return to their homes and in Álora, which was very badly hit by the storm, 15,000 people are without drinking water after damage was caused to the supply pipes.
The heavy rains have caused the loss of thousands of hectares of crops, damaged communications and infrastructure and caused cuts in high-speed rail traffic between Albacete and Valencia and a section of the conventional line in Malaga.
