The Ministry of Environment has made a ‘commitment’ to resume and complete sewage plant projects in the Doñana area after complaints made by the WWF in Spain about raw sewage discharges – five million litres per day – into streams in the area.
Both the Junta de Andalucia and Central Government have been quick to react to the complaint by the WWF, not least in seemingly pointing the finger of blame at each other. Being of different political persuasions, only natural.
The failure to do something about the discharge of raw sewage into Doñana could lead to the area losing some of its international awards, one of which is a listing as a World Heritage Site.
