The Mayor of Vélez-Málaga, Francisco Delgado Bonilla (PP), has expressed his regret that the Junta de Andalucia has still not made any progress towards putting out to tender the project to expand the marina in Caleta de Vélez.
The project to increase the number of berths at the marina from 277 to 791 was approved in 2008 but the financing is apparently still not included in the regional budget.
The Mayor added that in December last year, the then managing director of the Public Ports Authority, Sergio Moreno, promised that the contract would be put out to tender in the first six months of 2012, something which never happened.
Francisco Delgado Bonilla describes the marina expansion project as very important for the economic future of the municipality and the Axarquia region.
