Visitors to El Playazo beach on Sunday afternoon witnessed the sad sight of a dying dolphin stranded close to shore. Attempts were made to get it back into the water but without success and the Local Police were alerted.
The Local Police in turn called the Centre for the Recovery of Marine Species (CREMA), a dependency of the Aquatic Museum in Málaga, and a team of biologists arrived to examine the dolphin and try to determine the cause of death.
Around 300 dolphins become stranded on the beaches of Andalucia each year.
