The Association of Employers in Nerja (AEN) has expressed its support for the Council’s application to the Ministry of Tourism and Trade maintain Nerja’s status as a large tourist municipality for the purpose of freedom of trading hours during the high season – Easter Week and from July 1st to September 15th.
The president of the AEN is the former PP Councillor for Commerce, Jonathan Méndez.
The AEN stresses that, in peak times, the population of Nerja reaches 80,000 and, particularly in times of crisis, the freedom of business hours is essential for the local economy.
The AEN has also written to those responsible for the management of the Sierras de Tejeda, Almijara y Alhama Natural Park to request the production of a guide to the area and the installation of adequate signs to prevent hikers wandering aimlessly and getting lost, something that has happened on a number of occasions recently.
In addition, the AEN also signalled the need for ‘urgent’ action relating to the protected area of the Maro-Cerro Gordo cliffs so that plans can be made for its development and management.
