This is a week of protests and action in the education sector in Andalucia, with strikes on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday called by the Students Union and protests all over the region called in conjunction with the Spanish Confederation of Parents’ Associations (APEC).
Schools will function as normal, no-one being denied the right of entry, but students of 3rd and 4th Secondary, Bachillerato and Vocational Training are likely to stay home in their droves.
Protest meetings against the government plans for cuts in education will take place on Wednesday in all the provincial capitals.
I asked one Bachillerato student this morning what the strike was all about, and was greeted by a shrug of the shoulders and the response, ‘no idea’. Nothing changes.
