Three people, two men and a woman, have been arrested in connection with an attack at a house in Armilla, Granada, which left one man dead and three people, a woman and two children, injured.
The incident occurred at around 01:30 on Tuesday morning at a house in calle Tarragona. According to the first statement made by the woman, the wife of the deceased, the attack was carried out by two men. However, the authorities are pursuing several lines of inquiry, including the possibility that this was a settling of scores and most probably relating to criminal activity.
Theft has been ruled out as a motive for the attack as nothing was taken from the house.
The woman has since been discharged from hospital but the two children, aged 7 years and 10 years, remain in the ICU. Their conditions are said to be serious but not life-threatening.
The three detainees, one of whom is the step-brother of the injured woman, were first brought in for questioning as possible witnesses but were subsequently arrested and are due to appear in court today or tomorrow.
It is reported that the deceased had a history of drug-related issues.
