After five days of industrial action by cleaning staff in Jerez, the Council is calling for the situation to be declared an emergency and for minimum service levels to be increased. The Junta de Andalucia, however, does not agree.
Although the Junta de Andalucia has closed seven classrooms in various schools, it says that the facilities have not been closed in their entirety and there are still enough rooms to hold all the necessary classes.
In addition they say that the minimum service levels are set by law. While the conflict lasts, parents can decide whether to sent their children to school or not and parents of pupils at El Torno have already decided that their children will not be attending on Monday.
