Juan Carlos Alfaro, aged 39 years, the alleged perpetrator of two killings in El Salobral, Albacete, has died in hospital after shooting himself in the head during a siege at a farmhouse where he had taken refuge.
Alfaro, also known as ‘El Fraguel’, was transferred to the Hospital General in Albacete but died from his wounds.
Juan Carlos Alfaro, a mechanic with an extensive knowledge of weapons, had barricaded himself in a farmhouse. One of Alfaro’s victims was a thirteen year old girl with whom he maintained a consensual relationship and which caused friction between the two families.
Even Alfaro’s father was unsuccessful in trying to persuade his son to surrender and avoid further bloodshed.
The incident began at 19:20 on Saturday when the alleged killer called the Guardia Civil to say that he had shot the girl. He then went to her house and shot dead 40 year old Augustine DS and wounded 46 year old JGA. According to witnesses, Alfaro was dressed ‘Rambo’ style with black face paint during the attack.
Alfaro, an unemployed mechanic, was in possession of a gun licence and was a member of a hunting club.
