As the strike by cleaning staff in Jerez continues into its second week, around 2,000 children are currently unable to attend classes due to the unsanitary conditions in schools. The employees of the municipal cleaning company have already received one of the outstanding payrolls but are continuing their action.
A total of 75 classrooms have been closed in Jerez, prompting parents to question whether the parties involved in the dispute are committing an offence by denying citizens the ‘right to education’. There is even talk of legal action.
