Five business associations in Nerja, Frigiliana, Vélez-Málaga, Algarrobo and Torre del Mar have denounced the poor state of cleanliness of many of the beaches in the eastern Costa del Sol during the summer months and are asking the (oxymoron alert) competent authorities to adopt measures to prevent the situation from occurring next summer.
Although the situation occurred throughout the summer, the associations decided to wait until the end of the season before making a complaint so as not to create alarm.
The associations claim that the bathing waters between Rincon de la Victoria and Nerja have not presented the most optimal and hygienic conditions during the summer months, with many complaints being received from visitors to the coastline.
The five associations have asked to meet with the authorities responsible for cleaning up the beaches and bathing water in order to increase controls.
