The changing weather conditions and continuing economic woes of Spain do not seem to be deterring migrants from the African continent from trying to sneak into the country via the back door, another two boats being intercepted in the Straits of Gibraltar.
The numbers of immigrants trying to get into Spain is, however, becoming less each year. On this occasion, two small boats were intercepted off Tarifa in the Straits of Gibraltar. One boat contained 10 passengers, the other had 7 passengers.
The occupants of the first boat were taken to the port of Tarifa, those from the second boat were taken to Tangier.
The authorities began the search for the boats after a call was received from one of the passengers saying that he was having problems and was in an inflatable boat without an engine.
