The Association of Street Vendors in Málaga (AVAM) is up in arms against the decision by Torrox Council to put all the licences for the three municipal markets, around 150 places, out to tender.
The president of AVAM, Juan Rojas, says that all other municipalities in the province have automatically renewed licences for a period of four years and he is asking for talks with the Mayor of Torrox, Francisco Muñoz (PSOE), to discuss the situation.
Rojas believes that Torrox could be the only municipality in Spain yaking this approach which is, apparently, in pursuance of a European Directive on services.
