Iberia Express is reducing the number of flights between Sevilla and Madrid from 29 to 14 per week. As from November 29th there will be 16 flights per week and then in December it will be reduced to 14 per week.
Iberia Express says that demand has fallen due to the economic crisis and they need to tweak their winter schedules. This is despite the opening of a new conference centre in Sev¡illa with a capacity for 3,500 people.
Travel agents say that one of the problems they face is that the low-cost airlines do not accept reservations, singling out Ryanair as one of the main culprits in this area.
The AVE high-speed train is expected to benefit from the reduction in flights.
