A 31 year old resident of Maro, initials MCC, has been remanded in custody in Alhaurín de la Torre prison for the alleged crime of attempted murder after an incident in the village on October 31st which left a man with twelve stab wounds.
The incident took place on Wednesday October 31st in the Las Viñas area of Maro, about a kilometre from the N-340 coast road.
Apparently, MCC reprimanded a goatherd, a 50 year old man nicknamed ‘El Burra’ (Donkey) for letting his goats and sheep wander onto his property where they were feeding on his crops. During the discussion, MCC pulled a knife and stabbed the goatherd a dozen times in the neck, abdomen and back.
Leaving his victim bleeding on the ground, MCC then allegedly left the scene and went home.
The goatherd managed to stagger to the N-340 where a passing motorist took him to the Health Centre. He was then transferred to the Hospital Comarcal in Vélez-Málaga.
Police began a search for the alleged perpetrator and found him at his home in the centre of Maro. He was arrested, but not before putting up strong resistance.
The injuries to the goatherd, despite being numerous, were neither deep nor serious and after receiving attention overnight he was discharged on Thursday morning.
