The Maritime Rescue vessel ‘Salvamar Alkaid’ has recovered the body of a sub-Saharan immigrant, one of three reported missing yesterday in the Strait of Gibraltar.
On Wednesday, a merchant vessel spotted an empty dinghy floating in the water and a search was launched for possible survivors. Later, two people were picked up by another vessel and they told their rescuers that there had been another three people on the small boat when it sank.
However, the search is continuing as it is thought possible that the body found today could actually be from another boat which sank in the area.
The body, clad in an orange life jacket, has been taken to Tarifa, Cádiz province.
