The Spanish Ministry of Justice will have to provide the means for a family in Córdoba to locate the remains of Anselmo Guillermo Gómez, a former magistrate and PSOE member in Palma del Río who was summarily executed in 1936 during the Spanish Civil war. This was determined through a resolution unanimously approved by the European Parliament.
Anselmo Guillermo Gómez was taken to Córdoba and on August 19th he was shot. His place of burial was never known to his family.
His daughter, Guillermina Gómez, never knew her father as she was born a few months after his death, but she has carried on a personal crusade to locate his remains for as long as she can remember.
She regrets having to take the matter to the European Parliament but had no choice as the Spanish courts refused to help her in her quest.
