The Council is requesting the Junta de Andalucia to subsidise extra-curricular classes in Nerja and to reinstate the post of monitor for such activities. In addition, the Council wants the Junta to take action to make more schools in the town bilingual, as there is only one such facility at the moment.
The Council would like to see all schools become bilingual, as is happening in other municipalities.
As the Junta de Andalucia keeps stating that it has no money and cannot pay existing debts, it seems unlikely that either of these requests will bear fruit. But it’s worth a try.
