Several trucks from the public company TRAGSA, a subsidiary of the State Industrial Holdings Company, have been collecting some of the rubbish that has accumulated in Jerez as a result of the strike by employees of Urbaser. The trucks were accompanied and protected by vans of the National Police.
The workers’ committee described the action as ‘illegal’ as it violates their right to strike and took photographs of the incident. It doesn’t stop them striking, just prevents a health hazard due to rotting garbage.
The Socialists have asked the Interior Minister, Jorge Fernandez, to clarify the actions of the National Police and are contemplating asking the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Environment, Miguel Arias Cañete, to justify the role of public company Tragsa in this conflict.
