A 35 year old man walked into a branch of the Caixa bank in Málaga, informed the three employees present that he was armed and intended to rob them. He then reassured the staff and asked them to call the police because he had lost his business in the crisis and was desperate and wanted to go to jail.
The police arrived and read him his rights and arrested him for attempted robbery. The desperate robber offered no resistance.
The robber made a court appearance on Tuesday afternoon and the judge ordered his release from custody due to the lack of coercion involved in the incident. A speedy trial will take place later this week.
