Reports, as yet unverified, have been coming in about a new ‘scam’, for the want of a better word, happening in the area recently. Apparently, a woman is doing the rounds selling perfume door to door (and the odd leather coat for a ‘bargain’ price). This part we know is true, having ourselves been visited over the weekend.
However, the unconfirmed reports relate to people who succumb and decide to accept an offer to sample some of the perfumes. The effect is to render the ‘sniffer’ unconscious or incapacitated and it is then that two male accomplices appear and remove valuables from the home.
According to the unconfirmed reports and warnings, circulating via social networks and word of mouth, it is not chloroform that has been used but some other chemical.
