Civil Protection officers carried out the rescue on Wednesday of a man who suffered a fall and lost consciousness during a walking trip up the rio Chillar. The man, a 59 year old from Madrid, was accompanied on the trip by his wife.
A distress call was received at 16:30 on Wednesday afternoon and several units proceeded to the area, Cuesta de los Galgos, where they found the hiker. He had already recovered consciousness. He was taken to the Hospital Comarcal de la Axarquía in Vélez- Málaga.
The rescuers then had to try and find the man’s wife who had left the scene to obtain signal coverage for her phone so she could call for help. She was found in perfect health, although she was subsequently taken to the ambulatorio for a check-up.
