The delegate for the regional government, Carmen Crespo, and sub-delegates from all the provinces were in Nerja on Friday, this group being joined by the Mayor of Nerja, José Alberto Armijo, the president of the provincial Council, Elias Bendodo and numerous other officials.
During this working meeting, the group visited the Nerja Caves and the Parador, where they unanimously rejected the recent decree issued by the Junta de Andalucia relating to the immediate suspension of building projects carried out within 500 metres of the coast.
Under the decree, eleven municipalities along the Málaga coast will see plans to build 10,000 houses suspended. There was even talk of taking the matter to the Constitutional Court on the basis that it drives away investment, creates legal uncertainty, attacks municipal autonomy and prevents the creation of jobs in this time of economic crisis.
