Workers at the municipal cleaning company EMMSA in Rincón de la Victoria have voted unanimously in favour of strike action as from December 17th if no agreement is reached on the new collective agreement, the old agreement expiring at the end of this year.
The date of the strike has been chosen to allow the Council and its partner company FCC to honour agreements signed last June. The agreement signed in June averted strike action planned at the time but the unions say the commitments have not yet been fulfilled.
The mayor of Rincón de la Victoria, Francisco Salado (PP), has described the action by the unions as ‘disloyalty’ as there is an open line of negotiation. He added that the stability and salaries of the workforce is ‘guaranteed’ but the Council cannot afford the 12% wage increase being demanded by the unions.
