The workers committee and the management team of Parque Isla Mágica S.A. (Pimsa) are meeting today to discuss the future of the theme park in Sevilla, with the majority shareholder, Caixabank, favouring the sale of the business due to the general scenario of recession and the crisis in the theme park sector itself.
Caixabank owns 82.78% of the share capital after taking over the former majority shareholder Banca Civica in August 2012.
The meeting was scheduled after the UGT union called off proposed demonstrations, their decision being to some extent based on a statement by the Mayor of Sevilla, Juan Ignacio Zoido (PP), that Caixabank had rejected the idea of closing the facility.
The Isla Magica theme park opens for 169 days each year.
