Málaga Provincial Council, the School of Industrial Organisation (EOI) and five municipalities, including Nerja, are set to collaborate in a series of training programmes.
This was established in one of the agreements signed on Tuesday by the president of the provincial Council, Elías Bendodo, the under-secretary of the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism and Chairman of Board of Trustees of EOI, Enrique Hernández Bento, the director general of EOI, Fernando Bayón Mariné, the mayor of Vélez-Málaga, Francisco Delgado Bonilla, the mayor of Algarrobo, Natacha Rivas, the mayor of Nerja, José Alberto Armijo, the mayor of Rincón de la Victoria, Francisco Salado, and the mayor of Torrox, Francisco Muñoz. Also attending was the presidential deputy, Carlos Conde.
The agreements allow for the setting up of an innovation and training centre in the old sugar factory in Torre del Mar. There will be a budget of €1.47 million and focus will be on agri-food, tourism and handicrafts. The launch is scheduled for April 2013 and financing is through FEDER funds (80% contributed by EOI and the remaining 20% by Vélez-Málaga Council).
The budget amount will cover €440,000 for training, €40,000 for an opportunities study and €990,000 for the Innovation Centre.
