Iberia has announced that as from mid-January it will be suspending flights to Athens, Cairo and Istanbul and, from April 1st 2013, flights to Santo Domingo and Havana. The changes are part of the restructuring of the company announced in November.
The aim is to trim the unprofitable routes. Customers who have purchased tickets for dates after the date of suspension of flights will be offered a refund or flights with other airlines.
There are also plans to increase the number of flights to Brazil, Mexico, Miami, Central America, Chile and Ecuador in the long haul sector and to London, Casablanca, Algiers, Nouakchott, Dakar and Malabo in the short haul sector.
