Barring any last-minute agreement, Rincón de la Victoria is set to suffer its first indefinite strike by cleaning staff and garbage collectors as from midnight on Sunday.
Arbitration involving the unions (CC OO, UGT and CGT), the private company FCC and the municipal company EMMSA failed to sort out any of the issues.
The unions say they are not asking for a pay rise, just the recovery of purchasing power of employees as from January 2013. Also in dispute is the decision to increase the working week from 35 to 37.5 hours as stipulated by the Central Government.
The Council has apparently offered a wage freeze and job security.
During the strike, the Junta de Andalucia has set a minimum service level of 30%.
