In October, the PP government withdraw motions listed on the agenda which would have no decisive outcome and are dependent upon action by other administrative bodies for their execution. The General Secretariat was to prepare a report analysing whether or not the Council has the power to debate and approve motions of such a character. Presumably the answer was yes, as the government has filed a motion to ask the Central Government to put a stop to hydrocarbon prospecting along the Costa del Sol.
The motion urges the State to immediately suspend permits granted by previous governments and also urges the Government of Andalucia to create a committee to review the situation and take appropriate measures against hydrocarbon exploration along the Malaga coast.
According to the government, the exploration has a negative impact on tourism, the economy of the area and the environment.
