The 150 employees of the municipal bus company in Huelva, EMTUSA, begin an indefinite strike today after two meetings held last week failed to resolve the issues. The unions are objecting to the Viability Plan put forward by the Council.
The unions claim that none of their proposals have been considered and see strike action as their only alternative.
The Viability Plan includes a Temporary Employment Regulation (ERE) over a two year period affecting a dozen workers, a 30% salary cut is proposed and the non-coverage of retirements.
The unions see the need for the plan but believe the current proposal is unfair as it puts the whole burden on the workers.
