The Councillor for Planning, Infrastructure and Operational Services, Concepción Labao, has announced that a total of 255 new small and medium enterprises have been implemented in the municipality this year, with a total of 139 opening licences being granted. This compares to 110 licences issued last year.
According to an earlier report by the Association of Traders and Businesses in Vélez-Málaga (ACEV), twenty-five percent of the commercial premises in the central streets of the town are currently closed as a result of the financial crisis.
