Sanlúcar de Barrameda golf course has closed, another victim of the economic crisis. The promoter, Alfonso de Hohenlohe, originally anticipated the construction of luxury hotels, a marina, an equestrian centre, auditorium and houses and employment for 1,000 people, but this never came to pass.
The company owning the course, TENFA SL, went into bankruptcy in October 2012. On Friday, eight employees were given their cards, leaving only a manager and a gardener. A far cry from the predicted number of 1,000 employees. The employees are owed five months’ salary.
