Despite spotting them from afar and weaving down the promenade at El Chucho to avoid contact, a trio of ‘flower ladies’ seemed determined to try and surround me and ‘give’ me a carnation, endeavouring to press it against my body – the usual distraction which precedes being relieved of ones wallet or other items.
It took much side-stepping and manoeuvering to stay out of their reach. Having been ‘caught’ on my very first visit to Nerja some years ago, although I did get my money back from them, I am determined not to get caught again.
So do be aware. The ‘flower ladies’ were operating on a regular basis along El Playazo, El Chucho and Torrecilla during the summer months and now that the weather has attracted people to the beaches once more….
