Ronda Council has approved the elimination of four municipal agencies in order to streamline the administrative structure and save in the region of €210,000. The move was approved through the votes of the PA and PP government team with the socialists voting against and the IU-LV-CA abstaining.
The agreement will see the disappearance of the Local Autonomous Agency for Training and Employment Promotion (OALFPE), the Public Foundation for University Education, the Board of Education and the Sociocultural Board.
In their place will be a new agency, Public Management Agency, Local, Sociocultural, Education and Employment.
The government says that no redundancies are contemplated as a result of the restructuring while the socialists believe that the measure paves the way for privatisation and layoffs.
Also under the restructuring, the Casa del Jalifa, currently housing the Public Foundation for University Education, would become vacant and could be sold off.
