Management and unions at the Paradores de Turismo have reached an agreement on employment regulation (ERE) for 350 staff and the closure of the Parador de Puerto Lumbreras in Murcia. The agreement was reached after eleven hours of negotiation.
The initial number of layoffs had been set at 644, but this has now been reduced to 350. There is also the possibility of voluntary redundancies, with severance pay increased to 25 days per year of service with a maximum of 20 months pay.
Under the agreement, a further twenty-seven Paradors will suffer partial closures for periods of between two and four months per year. In addition, thirteen Parador restaurants will close, although cafeteria and bar facilities will be expanded.
